Frequently Asked Questions:
Do I need to visit your office?
No you don’t. In the website design business, location is not at all important. Everything can be done by phone and/or email. Any information you might have for me, for example the text and images for each page of your website can be emailed to me at [firstname.lastname@example.org] Working on this basis easily makes it possible for me to design websites for clients who are based all over the UK.
When do I get to see my website?
I normally design one page at a time. As soon as each page is completed, I will upload it to your server for you to view and evaluate the design. Once you have approved the design by using my Page Evaluation Form, only then will I start working on the next page.
What is web hosting?
A web hosting service is a type of Internet hosting service that allows individuals and organizations to make their website accessible via the World Wide Web. Web hosts are companies that provide space on a server owned or leased for use by clients, as well as providing Internet connectivity, typically in a data center. Web hosts can also provide data center space and connectivity to the Internet for other servers located in their data center, called colocation, also known as Housing in Latin America or France.
How does the website design process work?
There are several stages involved. First of all is the brain storming stage where I try to get inspiration as to what the look and feel of your website should be. My inspiration can come from any one of 3 sources below.
1) It can come direct from you either by a verbal description, an email containing a list of specific design instructions or, as some customers have done, you might like to sketch your ideas on a sheet of paper and email them to me.
2) Other websites can be a very useful source of inspiration. I prefer to research what other websites of the type you are interested in look like. You may already have seen some websites which you think look really nice. Simply tell me in the Client Questionnaire what those websites are and I will produce for you a website that looks similar
3) Divine Intervention! Some customers simply have no idea how they want their website to look nor have they laid eyes on any other websites which particularly impress them and would be worth copying. In such instances, you can just leave it to me. I have enough website design experience that I can usually come up with something good without having to rely on any or minimal help from the customer.
Typically I would design one page of your website at a time. Once a page has been designed I will call or email you and you will be able to view that page on your computer screen. It is unlikely I would have got the design correct first time, so simply tell me what needs to be changed and I will come back to you with a second improved version for you to see. Once the page is to your satisfaction, I will then move on to design the next page.
Again this next page must be to your satisfaction before I move onto the next page and so on. It is impossible to reach the end of the project without every page of your website being to your satisfaction and approved by you.
